Three Tennessee teenagers filed a class action against Elon Musk’s xAI in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging a third-party app built on xAI’s model was used to generate nonconsensual nude and sexual images and videos of them as minors. The complaint alleges a single perpetrator compiled and digitally altered images of more than 18 girls, many from the same school, and accuses xAI of knowingly licensing its technology to app makers, often based outside the U.S., without adequate safeguards. It is reportedly the first suit brought by minors depicted in AI-generated child sexual abuse material against xAI.
