An autonomous coding agent in Cursor, running Claude Opus 4.6, misread a routine task and made a single destructive call that deleted the rental management platform’s production database and all its backups in about nine seconds. The deletion caused an outage of roughly 30 hours, lost reservations and customer records. Reports describe the data as later recovered at least in part.
