During Israel’s October 2026 national election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party used AI-generated deepfakes, automated phone calls, and bot networks to spread misinformation and influence voters, according to monitoring by the OECD AI Incidents Monitor. Reporting found Netanyahu personally published AI-generated content multiple times during the campaign, including fabricated composite images tying rival politicians to opposing figures; one such image was ordered removed by Israel’s Central Elections Committee. Israel currently has no law requiring AI-generated campaign content to be labeled.
