Coinbase’s AI-generated “Trends” feature, which summarizes prediction-market activity from its Kalshi data integration, sent users a false alert claiming Norway had defeated Brazil 3-2 in a World Cup match with two goals from Erling Haaland, even though the match had not yet finished and Coinbase’s own prediction-market page still showed it in progress. CEO Brian Armstrong said the company was looking into the error, and head of consumer and business products Max Branzburg later confirmed the issue was fixed and systems updated to prevent similar inaccuracies. Norway did go on to win the match 2-1, but the premature and inaccurate alert raised concerns about AI-generated financial and trading information being presented as fact in real time.
