Norwegian news agency NTB published and then withdrew a story on Telenor’s annual security report after discovering the article contained five fabricated quotations and attributed the report’s foreword to a nonexistent security director. NTB’s news editor confirmed a staff writer had used an AI tool outside the agency’s approved internal tools to draft the piece. The story was pulled the same morning it was published, though copies had already spread to other outlets.
